Freestanding Signage

Freestanding signs are those "signs that are not attached to a building." As we've illustrated with building mounted signs, however, there are many types of freestanding signs, as the table below illustrates.

 
Freestanding Types Common Name & Definition
An example of Pylon signs Pylon - A freestanding sign with visible support structure or with the support structure enclosed with a pole or pylon cover.
An example of Joint Tenant signs Joint-Tenant-Sign - sign used to display the names of tenants of a business complex.
An example of monument signs Monument -A ground sign with low overall height.
An example of pole signs Pole - A freestanding sign with visible support structure.
An example of high rise pole signs High-Rise-Pole - A tall freestanding pole sign.
An example of directional signs Directional - Signs designed to provide direction to pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
An example of electronic signs Electronic Message Center - A variable message sign that utilizes computer-generated messages or some other electronic means of changing copy. These signs include displays using incandescent lamps, LEDs, LCDs or a flipper matrix.
